1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the MATTRS iOS app, the support pages at dowhatmattrs.com, and the services used to operate MATTRS. MATTRS is designed for an individual to manage distractions on their own device for focus, productivity, and personal device usage management.
2. What MATTRS collects
MATTRS does not require account creation to use the app. Most app data is stored locally on your device. Depending on how you use MATTRS, the app may store or access:
- goals, schedules, and related app preferences
- selected blocking targets, such as apps and websites you choose in the Screen Time picker
- onboarding state and app settings
- goal history and completion history on the device
- subscription state cache and related purchase state needed to operate the app
MATTRS does not sell personal information and does not send Health values, selected apps, selected websites, Family Controls tokens, or Screen Time usage details to analytics or attribution providers.
3. Permissions and device access
MATTRS may request the following device permissions:
- Family Controls / Screen Time. Used to help block the apps and websites you select on your own device while a goal is active.
- HealthKit. Used to read steps, exercise minutes, and mindful minutes when you choose a progress-based goal tied to those metrics.
- Motion & Fitness. Used to keep live step progress current while the app is open.
- Notifications. Used to send reminders and goal-related updates if you allow them.
If you deny or later disable these permissions, some features may not work as intended.
4. Analytics
MATTRS uses PostHog for anonymous product analytics in the iOS app and limited anonymous website analytics on dowhatmattrs.com. MATTRS also uses the TikTok App Events SDK for limited app attribution and conversion measurement. TikTok App Events only runs when app analytics are enabled and Apple tracking permission is authorized. These tools are intended to improve onboarding, goal setup, subscription flow, support access, launch readiness, and campaign measurement.
These analytics may include high-level events such as:
- app opened
- screen viewed
- website page viewed
- website section viewed
- website FAQ opened
- website CTA or contact link viewed or clicked
- website scroll-depth milestone reached
- onboarding completed
- permission result events
- goal saved, started, unlocked, or failed
- block shown
- paywall viewed, subscription started, or subscription restored
MATTRS does not use PostHog or TikTok App Events to send:
- raw HealthKit values or raw Motion & Fitness values
- selected app names or selected website domains
- Family Controls-derived device or usage data beyond what is needed to operate the app
- free-form user text
- website form fields or session replay from dowhatmattrs.com
App analytics are on by default and can be turned off at any time in the app’s Settings screen. Turning off analytics stops MATTRS from forwarding product analytics and TikTok App Events. TikTok attribution also requires Apple tracking permission; if permission is denied, MATTRS does not forward TikTok App Events from that install. Website analytics are limited to anonymous browsing events such as page views, section views, FAQ opens, CTA impressions, CTA clicks, contact-link clicks, and scroll-depth milestones. They are disabled on local preview hosts and are not initialized when a browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. PostHog data for MATTRS currently uses a US-hosted cloud region.
TikTok may receive coarse event names such as app launch, onboarding completion, goal saved, paywall viewed, and subscription started, along with technical request or SDK data needed for attribution, such as IP address, device or user-agent information, and advertising or device identifiers when permitted by iOS. MATTRS does not call TikTok identify methods and does not send email, phone number, HealthKit values, step counts, exercise minutes, mindful minutes, selected app names, selected website domains, Family Controls tokens, Screen Time usage details, free-form user text, product identifiers, prices, or revenue to TikTok.
5. Subscriptions and Apple payments
MATTRS offers subscriptions and in-app purchases using Apple’s StoreKit. Payments, renewals, cancellations, and refunds are processed by Apple and governed by your App Store account and Apple’s terms and policies.
6. Sharing and service providers
MATTRS may share limited information with service providers that help operate the app, such as analytics providers, attribution providers, and Apple’s in-app purchase infrastructure.
MATTRS does not share information with data brokers and does not share device or usage data received through Family Controls for advertising or advertising measurement.
7. Retention and security
Most operational data in MATTRS is stored locally on your device until you delete the app, reset app data, or change the related settings. MATTRS uses reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect the information it uses, but no system can be guaranteed secure.
8. Your choices
- You can revoke Health, Motion, Notifications, or Screen Time access in iPhone Settings.

9. Children’s privacy
MATTRS is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to MATTRS in a way that should be removed, contact privacy@dowhatmattrs.com.
